World experience shows that older people with mental illness are more susceptible to the psychological impact of a pandemic. Inpatients to be less likely to be exposed to negative psychological factors caused by the pandemic.To study the change in the course of the disease in elderly patients under strict quarantine. The study was carried out during a period of strict quarantine in the gerontology department of the Psychiatric Hospital in Azerbaijan. Patients and workers have been placed in strict quarantine since covid-19 was discovered. Observations were performed on 57 patients. Results: 56.1% of patients experienced changes in the mental sphere to one degree or another. The deterioration of the clinical course of the disease is more noticeable in patients with involutional paranoid state, organic emotionally labile disorder , senile dementia and schizophrenia. Faster adaptation to existing conditions was observed in patients with involutional paranoid state, organic emotionally disorder, senile psychosis and schizophrenia, complications of dementia were observed in 36.8% of patients with dementia. Cognitive decline was higher in patients with vascular dementia .
